Megan Whitehead 608, Sarah Higgins 528, Natalya Rangiawha 507, Amy Silcock 423 set a women’s four stand, 9 hour strong wool lamb World Record
at Waihi-Pukawa Station, Omori, Turangi, New Zealand, with a total of 2066.
Convening Referee Martyn David described the event as a very special day, shearing very good romney ewe lambs clipping an average of 1.11 kgs of wool.
A large crowd watching gave a huge reception to the girls at the end of a cold morning followed by a very warm afternoon, which reflected an improvement
in the shearing quality as the day progressed.

Josh Clayton’s attempt on the 8 hour merino ewe record was called off two days prior to the event.
Stacey Te Huia abandoned his attempt on the 9 hour merino wether record at ‘The Bend’, Paerau, N.Z. at morning smoko being
too far behind the required tally.
Referee’s reported very cold windy conditions and the wethers having ‘gone off’ and not really suitable for a record attempt this
time of year.
Coel L’Huillier 677, Kaleb Foote 667, Daniel Langlands 632, broke the three stand 8 hour strong wool lamb record by 151 at Puketiti Station, Piopio, New Zealand.
The final tally was 1976. Referees described the coopworth/romney cross lambs the most even quality line of lambs for a record attempt seen in New Zealand for
a very long time. Some fifteen lambs were deducted from the tally during the day as being not up to quality shearing standard.

Pauline Bolay set a new 8 hour strong wool lamb record of 510 beating Kerri-Jo Te Huia’s mark of 507 by three.
The new record was established at Whitford Farms, Waikaretu, New Zealand in the same shed that holds
Emily Welch’s 9 hour strong wool lamb record of 648.
Canadian, Pauline, displayed plenty of tenacity and courage in reaching the required tally with two minutes to spare.

Martin Howlett 539 & Jonny Roberts 536 set a new two stand, 8 hour strong wool ewe record of 1075 breaking
Coel L’Huillier & Kelvin Walker’s existing mark by seven. Reward after the disappointment of failure to reach wool
weight one month ago, the weight comfortably reaching the required weight for this attempt. The weather was
wet prior to and during the day causing some headaches no doubt.

Stuart Connor set a new British record of 785 strong wool lambs shorn in 9 hours at Fern Hill Farm,
Somerset, England. The existing World record of 867 held by Ivan Scott was a ‘bridge too far’ but still a huge
effort from Stuart.

The 8 hour two stand strong wool ewe record attempt scheduled to have taken place on this date was cancelled after failure to reach the required wool weight the day before.

Aidan Copp lifted the 8 hour crossbred lamb record set 14 years ago by Dwayne Black by five to 524. The new record was achieved at ‘Gbadbro Pastoral Company’ via Lockhart Road, NSW, Australia.

Louis Brown improved Cartwright Terry’s 16 year old 8 hour merino ewe record by 31 to 497. An excellent effort reported by those in attendance at ‘Rockliffe Grazing’, Kojonup, Western Australia.

Josh Clayton found the conditions too tough in his attempt to break the 8 hour merino ewe record at Oxton Park, Harden, NSW, Australia.
Convening Referee Ian Buchanan reported the sheep being very good but had been ‘hanging around too long’ and the actual day was
blowing, cold and sleeting causing them to go off further. Being 14 short of the 467 required to break the existing record was a very good
effort by Josh.

Steven Mudford set a new World Record shearing 373 merino wethers in 8 hours at Parkdale SRS Merino Stud, Dubbo, NSW, Australia surpassing Dave Grant's 356 set back
in 2007 at Hughenden, Queensland, Australia.
A very good effort by Steven considering drought conditions at Dubbo caused postponement of the attempt by over three months, enabling the wool weight to be reached.

Leon Samuels attempt on the 8 hour strong wool ewe record at Argyle Station, Waikaia, New Zealand was aborted at 11.00 a.m. (lunch time) with Leon 19 sheep behind the required tally.
Rowland Smith’s tally of 644 set in July 2017 remains the 8 hour strong wool ewe record.

Kerri Jo Te Huia set a Women’s World Record shearing 452 strong wool ewes in nine hours at Otapawa Station, Tiraumea, Wairarapa, New Zealand. Records Society Chairman John Fagan reported a high quality
job on perendale ewes that carried fourteen months wool and were feisty making for a very tough day’s shearing for Kerri Jo.

Rowland Smith, New Zealand set a new World Record shearing 644 strong wool ewes in eight hours at Trefranck Farm, St Clether, Cornwall, England, smashing the previous record of 605 achieved by Leon Samuels
in New Zealand, February 2017. Possibly the first time brothers have held two different World shearing records at the same time;
Rowland Smith 644 --- 8 hour strong wool ewe record.
Matthew Smith 731 --- 9 hour strong wool ewe record.

Australia fell short of Dave Grant's record of 356 with a final tally of 345.

Leon Samuels set a new World Record shearing 605 strong wool ewes in eight hours at Argyle Station, Waikaia, Southland, New Zealand breaking Stacey Te Huia's mark by two set at Moketenui Station, King Country, New Zealand in December 2010.
Referees were; Ralph Blue, Australia (Convener), Paul Harris, John Fraser, Robert McLaren New Zealand.
A new three stand, eight hour strong wool ewe record was set at Waitara Station, Mohaka, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. Luke Mullins 554, Eru Weeds 539, James Mack 518 with a total of 1611, broke the previous mark set in the Hawkes Bay
just over a year ago by 264. All three shearers are residents of New Zealand.

A new three stand, eight hour strong wool lamb World Record was set at Moketenui Station, Mangepehi, King Country, New Zealand. Welshmen Matthew Evans 614 & Delwyn Jones 602 along with New Zealand's Ryan Miller 609 shearing for Neil Fagan's Gang set a
new mark of 1825 breaking the long standing record held by 'Digger' Balme, Roger Neil & Dean Ball since January 1999 by forty-one.

New Zealand trainee Robert McLaren was presented with his official refereeing badge by John Fagan, Chairman of the World Sheep Shearing Records Society at the end of a very successful day, capped off by an impromptu rendition of Wale's National Anthem sung by Wale's supporters and a rousing haka for Kiwi Ryan Miller.
Coel L'Huillier (N Z) 537 & Kelvin Walker (N Z) 531 set a new two stand World Record eclipsing by two the previous eight hour strong wool ewe record by Rowland & Doug Smith, January 2011. The new mark of 1068 was achieved at Te Hape B Trust, Benneydale, King Country, New Zealand, keeping the large crowd attending in suspense right up until 5 p.m.

Matt Smith, N Z (now living in England) smashed the World strong wool ewe record at Trefrank Farm, Cornwall, England shearing 731 ewes in nine hours beating the record set by Rodney Sutton N Z in January 2007 by ten sheep.
An outstanding, consistent effort by Matt on 'beautiful' shearing sheep commented convening referee Ian Buchanan N Z. The other referees were Mark Baldwin Australia and Arwyn Jones Wales along with Martyn David Wales in attendance as a trainee referee.
Beau Guelfi's solo 8 hour merino ewe attempt was called off after lunch, Beau being too far behind the required tally.

Leon Samuels solo attempt on the 8 hour strong wool ewe record was cancelled nine days prior due to unsuitable sheep.
The 3 stand, 8 hour strong wool lamb record attempt by Mark Barrowcliffe's gang of Ringa Paewai, Peter Lee Ratima and Craig Fagan (replacing an injured Aidan Copp) was called off at lunch time as the required tally was unattainable.

Stacey Te Huia's 9 hour strong wool ewe attempt at Mangarata-Taratahi Ag Training Centre, Masterton, N Z stopped at morning smoko when it was decided he was too far behind the required tally.

Shelford Wilcox 488, Kalin Chrystal 486, Errol Chrystal 373 set a three stand World Record shearing a total of 1347 strong wool ewes in eight hours at Big Hill Station, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.

Beau Guelfi and Bob White 'pulled the pin' at 3 pm on an attempt to break the Terry brother's 8 hour merino ewe shearing record at Parkdale Merino SRS Stud, Collie, Dubbo, N S W, Australia. Big ewes with an average wool weight of 4.9 kgs. proved insurmountable.
Referees were, Paul Harris (N Z) convener, Ralph Blue, Peter Black, Grant Borchardt (Australia) and Bernie Walker (Australia) along with John Fraser (NZ) and Arwyn Jones (Wales) observing.

A new 8 hour, 5 stand strong wool lamb record was achieved at Puketiti Station, Piopio, King Country, New Zealand.
Contractor Mark Barrowcliffe's gang of Ringa Paewai 618, Willie Hewitson 603, Aidan Copp 586, Jock MacDonald 564 and George Parker 539 with a final total of 2910 eclipsed the mark set by Clayton-Green/Welch Shearing twelve months ago by 272. Weather conditions were ideal for the attempt, staff for the property owners Ingleby NZLP Ltd could not have done more in co-operating to make the attempt successful and enjoyable.

In warm and humid conditions following intermittent thunderstorms the previous two days, keeping the sheep under cover for two nights. A three stand eight hour merino ewe record was set at Parkdale Merino SRS Stud, Collie, Dubbo, NSW, Australia.
The Mudford Shearing Gang of Steve Mudford 396, Bod White 432 and Beau Guelfi 461 achieved a very respectable total of 1289.

Under ideal weather conditions a five stand 8 hour strong wool lamb record was set at Cashmore Farms, Kawakawa Bay/Orere Road, South Auckland, New Zealand.
Clayton-Greene and Welch Shearing Ltd gang of Sam Welch 573, Angus Moore 607, Coel Le'Huillier 518, Peter Totorewa 449 and Richard Welch 491 achieved a total of 2638.

Stacey Te Huia failed in his attempt to break the 9 hour strong wool ewe record. The record attempt was called off at afternoon smoko when it was clear Stacey would not make the tally of 722 needed to
beat Rodney Sutton's 721 set on the 30th January 2007. Stacey carried on to shear a personal best tally of 703 for the day.

Hawke's Bay shearers John Kirkpatrick and James Mack and Southlanders Leon Samuels and Eru Weeds, shore 2556 strong wool lambs in eight hours to set a new Four-stand Eight-hour
Lambshearing World Record. Individual tallies were John Kirkpatrick 650, Leon Samuels 648, James Mack 643 and Eru Weeds 615.

Cam Ferguson, Adam Brausch and Ringa Paewai were understandably gutted when told by referees just hours before their record bid on Thursday that it was off because there was just not enough top-knot.
